A billion-dollar proposal released to the public this Wednesday made some staggering promises including over 10,000 new jobs, 5,000 new homes, and 70 hectares of land used.<\/p>\n

Scentre Group, the company behind Westfield, has unveiled an astounding concept plan for the redevelopment of the Tuggerah area over the next four decades.<\/p>\n

The $2.8 billion-dollar plan, which details a complete redevelopment of Westfield Tuggerah and the 70 hectares of land surrounding it, is the biggest of its kind in the history of the Central Coast.<\/p>\n

Scentre\u2019s concept designs include an expanded Westfield Tuggerah, an outdoor adventure park, an education precinct with a new primary school, a senior living facility, hotels, and areas for medium to high rise residential blocks.<\/p>\n

The NSW state government has decided to support and expand the plan, pledging a $700 million package to the project including an upgrade and expansion of the Tuggerah station into a transport interchange.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made on Wednesday with NSW Planning Minister Anthony Roberts in attendance, as well as representatives from Westfield, the Hunter Central Coast Development Corporation, Darkinjung local land council, and the Scentre Group.<\/p>\n

Minister Roberts spoke of the multitude of benefits that could stem from the 35-year project.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf this development goes ahead, it is estimated that the construction alone would generate more than 10,000 new jobs and lead to almost 2700 ongoing jobs once completed, putting Tuggerah on the map as an employment hot spot.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis game-changing plan is yet further evidence of the enormous surge of investor confidence in the Central Coast.\u201d<\/p>\n
