The paddle could take over 13hrs.<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Two locals from the Central Coast are taking place in an amazing challenge to raise awareness for an important issue that\u2019s sweeping the region.<\/p>\n

Brothers Shaun and Luke Sullivan will be paddling a whopping 53km along coastline to raise awareness for mental health issues on the Central Coast.<\/p>\n

The local men will start their epic Coast2Coast paddle on March 30th at Norah Head, and continue down the Central Coast before finishing at Umina Beach.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The brothers are taking part in the challenge after personal experiences with close family members suffering mental health problems.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally excited to be heading into this challenge. Our dad suffered mental health issues and the ocean has been his best medicine,\u201d Luke Sullivan revealed in an Instagram video.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really pumped to be doing this challenge for him and for everybody else out there who suffers from mental health issues.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Central Coast region currently has the third highest suicide rate in NSW, with rates consistently sitting around 20% higher than the rest of the state. \u00a0<\/p>\n

In wider Australia, one in every seven Australian\u2019s will experience depression in their lifetime, and one in every four will experience an anxiety condition. More than eight people die every day in Australia by suicide.<\/p>\n
