We are now only 7% away from water restrictions kicking in on the Coast.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Central Coast Council has voted to introduce water restrictions much earlier when water levels begin to fall in the local damn.<\/p>\n

The council voted to bring in Level One water restrictions when water levels in Mangrove Creek Dam drop to 50% – an 8% increase from the previous level of 42%.<\/p>\n

According to the Central Coast Express Advocate<\/em>, Mangrove Creek Dam is currently sitting at 57% capacity – only 7% away from water restrictions being introduced across the region, \u00a0and 10% lower than this time last year.<\/p>\n

Level Two restrictions will now kick in when levels reach 40%, Level Three at 35%, Four at 30% and Five at 25%. Restrictions will be lifted when the dam returns to 52% capacity.<\/p>\n

The shift in trigger points comes as the Central Coast Council explores the issue of increased climate variability as well as risk factors in the area such as population growth, more frequent drought, and the proposed Wallarah 2 coal mine. \u00a0<\/p>\n
