We thought we had finally understood all the new road rules that were introduced in 2018.<\/p>\n

We slowed down to 40km\/h when emergency vehicles were on the side on the road and we made sure to stay two chevrons apart according to the new markings on the M1. Hell, we even learned we were able to legally change lanes in the middle of a roundabout.<\/p>\n

But it turns out that there\u2019s still a whole bunch of laws that we still had no idea about.<\/p>\n

For example, did you know that if you chow down on a humble sausage roll on a road trip you could end up $448 out of pocket? NSW road rules dictate that a motorist can be fined $448 and three demerit points for eating behind the wheel.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Have you got married or moved to a new house recently? Well, you best be paying a visit to Service NSW pronto! Failure to notify the NSW government about name or address changes could cost you a $112 on the spot fine.<\/p>\n

Do you have an unregistered car parked on the street in front of your house? We\u2019d recommend finding it a new home as parking an unregistered car on the road is punishable with a $673 fine.<\/p>\n

And the obscure laws don\u2019t end there \u2013 did you know that you could cop a $112 fine and three demerit points if you wonder too far away from an unlocked car? That\u2019s right \u2013 the law dictates that drivers cannot be more than three metres from an unsecured car.<\/p>\n

And this next law might make you think twice about giving a friendly honk goodbye. According to NSW road rules, the horn can only be used as a warning and if used improperly, could result in a $337 fine and the loss of three demerit points.<\/p>\n

And last but not least, motorists should always be careful when driving during bad weather as splashing people waiting for a bus could cost you $187.<\/p>\n
