{"id":1374,"date":"2018-12-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/uncategorized\/thousands-aussies-fall-facebook-giveaway-scam\/"},"modified":"2018-12-04T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-12-03T14:00:00","slug":"thousands-aussies-fall-facebook-giveaway-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/lifestyle\/thousands-aussies-fall-facebook-giveaway-scam\/","title":{"rendered":"Thousands of Aussies fall for Facebook giveaway scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/gettyimages-1067046156.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Were you targeted?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Aussie\u2019s are being warned to be wary of Facebook scams after 119,000 people signed up to a fraudulent competition last week.<\/p>\n<p>A Facebook page called Tiny Homes Australia invited people to like their page and click a \u2018done\u2019 button which would redirect them to a page where they were asked to register their personal details in order to win a tiny home.<\/p>\n<p>The scam, which aims to fraudulently access people\u2019s information, illegally used photos from a Canadian company to lure people in.<\/p>\n<p>Another company, also called Tiny Homes Australia, has had to clarify that it was not them running the giveaway, and has urged Facebook users to be careful about any similar business running a tiny home giveaway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust another notice to let you guys know about the scam Tiny Home giveaway that\u2019s going on,\u201d they posted to their Facebook page.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe page is called \u2018Tiny Homes Australia\u2019 however it is NOT US!
