The downpour is expected to ease by this afternoon.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Over 1700 homes and businesses were left without power yesterday as wild storms lashed the Central Coast.<\/p>\n

Homes in Blue Haven, Charmhaven and San Remo lost power in the morning with the northern suburbs receiving over 60mm of rain before 10am.<\/p>\n

The lower parts of the Coast were also hit by heavy rains in the morning with the downpour and winds intensifying in the late afternoon.<\/p>\n

Winds averaged at 60-70km\/h, with peak gusts of 80km\/h blowing across the Coast in the evening.<\/p>\n

Sydney copped the worst of the storm with 124mm of rain falling before 5pm, and winds reaching 90km\/h in some parts of the city.<\/p>\n

As the rain hit the CBD and its surrounds, train tracks were quickly flooded, flights were delayed, roads were covered in water and fallen trees, and traffic was at a standstill.<\/p>\n

According to news.com.au, over 80 car accidents occurred between 6am and 6pm, more than 15 people had to be rescued from floodwaters, and over 2300 calls were made to the SES.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The wild weather is expected to ease by 12pm today.<\/p>\n
