Central Coast commuters who make the journey to Sydney are being warned to avoid the roads today with torrential downpours and flash flooding predicted.<\/p>\n

Forecasters have predicted that two days worth of rain is set to fall on Sydney with an average of 70mm-100mm across the area, and 200mm in some sections of the city and surrounds.<\/p>\n

The Hawkesbury, Nepean, Cooks and Georges rivers are all currently on flood watch.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re asking all road users to perhaps reconsider the need to be on the road through what will be a severe rain event,\u201d NSW Police Chief Inspector Phillip Brooks told reporters on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Meteorologists are yet to confirm where the storm will hit the hardest, however they are predicting \u201cwild supercell thunderstorms\u201d across most of the east coast.<\/p>\n

60mm of rain is set to fall on the Central Coast.<\/p>\n
