Break out your heaters because there is an icy polar blast heading the Central Coast\u2019s way later this week! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the good folk at the Bureau of Meteorology, there is a mass of icy air swirling around the Southern Ocean near Antarctica which will push north into Western Australia and South Australia from this afternoon (June 7) before moving east into Victoria and NSW from Tuesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The polar blast is expected to plunge temperatures across the Central Coast and bring with it gusty winds and some heavy downpours, which are expected to be at their heaviest on Wednesday and Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe pack a brolly if you\u2019re in and around Gosford on Wednesday and Thursday because there is a high chance of rain with winds expected to be blowing anywhere from 15 to 25 km\/h on both days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As for the temperatures? Well, it\u2019s going to be cold with Gosford maxing out at 16 degrees on Wednesday and just 13 degrees on Thursday!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s a similar picture for The Entrance too with temperatures expected to peak at 14 degrees on Wednesday and 13 degrees on Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But it\u2019s not all bad news, with this cold front set to bring snow to the Barrington Tops mid-week! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A dusting of snow is expected on the Barrington Tops on Wednesday, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting the snow could stick around until as late as Friday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking to the Newcastle Herald, Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Neale Fraser said forecasters are confident there will be snow on the tops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThere will be a decent cold outbreak across the state on Tuesday,\u201d Fraser told the Newcastle Herald, \u201cThis will bring snow on Barrington Tops and we are fairly confident of snowfall as low as 900 metres on Wednesday and potentially Thursday.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Now, we know you naysayers will say it\u2019s winter\u2026 of course, it\u2019s supposed to be cold but not according to Fraser…. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt will be the coldest burst we have seen so far this year,\u201d Fraser said.\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
If it does snow and you are chasing it up in the Barrington Tops later this week, authorities are reminding people to check the Road Closures listed on the Forestry Corporation website<\/a> and Live Traffic NSW<\/a>. If it looks unsafe, then don\u2019t do it! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
