Construction of the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute is officially complete, with the keys handed over for the multi-million facility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The keys were handed over in a ceremony this morning, with control of the building officially transferred to the Central Coast Local Health District and the University of Newcastle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The six-storey Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute building features a \u201cmicrobiological physical containment level 2\u201d lab as well as anatomy, histology and molecular laboratories.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are also three simulation wards and one simulation lab, a 100-person lecture space, teaching spaces, a library, office space for the University of Newcastle, Central Coast Local Health District staff and the new Central Coast Research Institute. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch was on hand for the ceremony and confirmed staff would start moving into the facility from next week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe dream of having a co-located Clinical School and Research Institute operating in our region is quickly becoming a reality, and staff will begin moving into the facilities next Monday,\u201d Mr Crouch said.\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Federal Member for Robertson Lucy Wicks was also on hand and said the new facility would provide 850 places for students to complete their medicine, nursing and midwifery degrees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn just 31 days\u2019 time we will see the first students walk through the doors. This means local students will have more options to complete all levels of their education \u2013 primary, secondary and tertiary \u2013 right here on the Central Coast,\u201d Ms Wicks said.\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
The first students at the research institute will arrive on July 19, with minor landscaping work continuing at the moment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
