This weekend\u2019s 5 Lands Walk and the Avoca Beachside Markets have both been postponed out of an abundance of caution following the reintroduction of COVID-19 restrictions<\/a> on the Central Coast yesterday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 Lands Walk President Pauline Wright said in a statement this morning that while they are confident they could comply with the restrictions, there is always the risk someone could unknowingly attend the event with COVID-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile we are confident that we can comply with the newly announced COVID-19 restrictions with some modifications, we are concerned about the possibility that an asymptomatic person could unknowingly come to the event,\u201d Ms Wright said, <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf we go ahead now the 5 Lands Walk will be restricted but if we proceed later it will be a celebration. The 5 Lands Walks mantra is \u2018connecting people to people and people to place\u2019 and we aim to exclude no-one. Wearing masks and the other restrictions mean that many people will be unable to participate in the celebrations.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t want to risk the health of or community by gathering people together right now.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The postponement of the event does extend to the 5 Lands Walk Opening Ceremony scheduled for June 25. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Wright confirmed the team at 5 Lands Walk would confirm a new date once they have one and it will be announced to the public. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Avoca Beachside Markets \u2013 which was meant to take place this Sunday \u2013 have also been postponed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement on Facebook<\/a>, the team at the markets said they were sad to announce the postponement of the school holiday markets \u2013 but they are hoping to reschedule shortly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are also so sad to announce we have decided to postpone Sunday\u2018s school holiday market which usually brings such a fabulous turnout. We are hoping to reschedule very shortly and will have more information as soon as it\u2019s confirmed with council,\u201d the statement reads, <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHopefully it will still be within the school holidays. We send our apologies out to all those who look forward to the event in the school holidays and who travel to visit. Stallholders will be emailed shortly. We also feel sad for all the stallholders who bake and make furiously for this market.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mingara Orchid Fair & Show scheduled to be held this weekend at Mingara Recreation Club also been postponed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
