The NSW Government has announced a major new grants program to help small businesses across NSW impacted by the current COVID-19 restrictions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The package includes grants of between $5,000 and $10,000 for small businesses, payroll deferrals for all employers as well as an extension of the Dine & Discover NSW scheme to August and to include the direct delivery of takeaway to their home by the venue themselves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Three will be three different grant amounts available for small businesses dependent on the decline in turnover experienced during the restrictions – $10,000 for a 70 per cent decline, $7,000 for a 50 per cent decline and $5,000 for a 30 per cent decline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The grants will be divided into two streams \u2013 Small Business COVID-19 Support Grant and the Hospitality and Tourism COVID-19 Support Grant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Small Business COVID-19 Support Grant will be available to businesses and sole traders with a turnover of more than $75,000 per annum but below the NSW Government 2020-21 payroll tax threshold of $1,200,000 as at 1 July 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These businesses must have fewer than 20 full time equivalent employees and an Australian Business Number (ABN) registered in New South Wales or be able to demonstrate they are physically located and primarily operating in New South Wales.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hospitality and Tourism COVID-19 Support Grant is available to tourism or hospitality businesses that have a turnover of more than $75,000 and an annual Australian wages bill of below $10 million, as at 1 July 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These businesses must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) registered in New South Wales or be able to demonstrate they are physically located and primarily operating in New South Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Businesses will be able to apply for the grants through Service NSW from later in July and will need to demonstrate a decline in turnover across a minimum two-week period after the commencement of major restrictions from June 26.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The NSW Government confirmed the full criteria for the grants will be available in the coming days on the Service NSW website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Business NSW Regional Director Paula Martin said the package will be gratefully received. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe package is particularly well targeted and will start to hit the accounts of business owners from next month,\u201d said Business NSW Regional Director Paula Martin.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBusiness NSW has been working with the Government on this initiative since the lockdown was confirmed on Saturday, and by using the real experiences of our members, we were able to demonstrate the widespread need for a quick turn-around for this package,\u201d Ms Martin said, \u201cThis will be one of the fastest and largest business support packages from any state in Australia in response to the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
