Residents across the state are being reminded not to travel without a valid excuse during lockdown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister for Police and Emergency Service David Elliot issued the reminder yesterday, saying police officers will be out in full force ensuring the current Public Health Orders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To date, NSW Police have issued a total of 59 Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs), 213 cautions and three specific COVID-19 related charges up to yesterday afternoon (June 30, 2021) to individuals and businesses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Elliot said now is not the time to flout the rules. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cNow is not the time to flout the public health orders by going on a holiday. The safety of the community is the main priority of the NSW Government and police will ensure people are making the right decisions in the community and on our roads,\u201d Mr Elliott said,
\u201cThere is absolutely no excuse for this type of behavior and it is a slap in the face to the millions of people across the state who are abiding the orders and doing the right thing.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\u201cI\u2019m incredibly thankful to our police officers who are not only enforcing the public health orders in the community, but also detecting and fighting crime, and managing our quarantine facilities around the clock.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
State Emergency Operations Controller Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys said now is not the time for people in locked down areas to be travelling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCan I be clear about this, if you\u2019re from any area covered under the Public Health Order, we don\u2019t want to see you away from your home without a valid reason,\u201d Deputy Commissioner Worboys said, <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPolice are also concerned at the number of PINs we have issued for people not wearing masks on public transport. People need to know we will be out and about ensuring this is complied with.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anonymous reports can be made by anyone who has information regarding individuals or businesses contravening a Public Health Order at Crime Stoppers<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
