Six Central Coast residents have been named as part of the full Australian Olympic Team heading to the Tokyo Olympics in just a few short weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlie Hunter from Wamberal will represent Australia in Athletics, joining Tascott local Nicola McDermott who is representing Australia in High Jump. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just yesterday, Nicola broke her own Australian record<\/a> at the Diamond League in Stockholm.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joining Charlie and Nicola from the Coast in Tokyo will be Avoca Beach Sprint Canoe champions Lachlan Tame and Riley Fitzsimmons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wamberal\u2019s Dylan Litthales will also join Lachlan and Riley to compete in the Paralympic Canoe Sprint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Berkeley Vale local Faith Nathan has also booked her debut at the Olympics as part of the Australian Women\u2019s Rugby 7\u2019s Squad.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local footballer \u2013 and Mariners player \u2013 Kye Rowles has also been named to represent Australia at the upcoming games.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The six legendary Coasties join a team of 472 athletes heading to Tokyo, the third-largest at an Olympics behind Sydney 2000 (632 athletes) and Athens 2004 (482 athletes). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Australian Olympic Team Chef de Mission Ian Chesterman paid tribute to all the selected athletes who have endured the uncertainties of a one-year postponement, disrupted competitions, qualifying opportunities and access to training venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis has been extremely difficult for every athlete and each has their own individual story to tell. But they have made it. Through their determination and commitment, they are going to Tokyo.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEven before these Games are declared Open on July 23rd, this Australian Team has made its own history. They are a special Team and Australians can be very proud of them.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
