Here&#8217;s How You Can Access Mental Health Care"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>News broke today that Greater Sydney and the Central Coast&#8217;s lockdown would extend for another week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news is tough to hear and even tougher for some to live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Star 104.5, we want you to know your mental health during lockdown is important to us so we\u2019ve outlined some resources available. It\u2019s important to ask for help, especially professional help, to help manage if you\u2019re struggling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is recommended by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au\/mental-health-resources-coronavirus-covid-19\">health bodies<\/a>&nbsp;that individuals, \u201cGet help early as some challenging issues can turn into more serious conditions if they are not addressed quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Two initial avenues exist to access professional assistance:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Talk to your general practitioner (GP).<\/strong><br>If your GP thinks you need extra support, they may prepare a Mental Health Care Plan. These plans give you access to allied health professionals (such as psychologists) through Medicare. Your GP can also make a referral to a private psychiatrist or a public clinical mental health service if required.<\/li><li><strong>Contact a mental health telephone, text or online counselling service or a general counsellor.&nbsp;<\/strong><br>These services can provide you with targeted information and referrals. There are a number of services and resources listed below.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Outside of the above information, other resources for mental health during lockdown \u2013 like tips for managing isolation \u2013 are available&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au\/mental-health-resources-coronavirus-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>&nbsp;and below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>If you or anyone you know are struggling with mental health, help is available to you:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.beyondblue.org.au\/\"><strong><em>Beyond Blue<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em>&nbsp;on 1300 22 4636&nbsp;\u2013 online chat available.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeline.org.au\/\"><strong><em>Lifeline<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em>&nbsp;on 13 11 14<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<strong><em>\u2013 online and text chat available.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>If you are dealing with domestic violence, please contact:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.1800respect.org.au\/\"><strong><em>1800RESPECT<\/em><\/strong><\/a><strong><em>&nbsp;on 1800 737 732 (chat function also available online).<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>In case of emergency, call 000.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our parent company Nova Entertainment also produces a podcast called\u00a0<em>The Space<\/em>\u00a0which may help if you want a little extra zen during your day.\u00a0<em>The Space<\/em>\u00a0is a twice daily mindfulness podcast \u2013 without the chanting or cringey stuff \u2013 hosted by Casey Donovan and written by Amy Molloy.
