Fifty-one cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 46 cases remains under investigation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NSW recorded 207 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. <\/p>\n<p>Of these locally acquired cases, 105 are linked to a known case or cluster, 92 are household contacts &amp; 13 are close contacts, the source of infection for 102 cases is under investigation <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FUKl2GTqL2\">pic.twitter.com\/FUKl2GTqL2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NSW Health (@NSWHealth) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NSWHealth\/status\/1421999411484188678?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 2, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are currently 232 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 54 people in intensive care, 25 of whom require ventilation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There were a record 117,009 COVID-19 tests reported to 8pm last night, compared with the previous day\u2019s total of 105,963.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now 3,932,108 with 1,509,706 doses administered by NSW Health to 8pm last night and 2,422,402 administered by the GP network and other providers to 11.59pm on Saturday, July 31 2021.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the 207 locally acquired cases reported to 8pm last night, 83 are from South Western Sydney Local Health District (LHD), 53 are from Western Sydney LHD, 48 are from Sydney LHD, 17 are from South Eastern Sydney LHD and six are from Northern Sydney LHD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In promising news for the Central Coast, no new cases have been reported for the Central Coast Local Health District in the 24 hours to 8 pm last night.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A reporter at the press conference asked Ms Berejiklian why region centre Shellharbour is still in lockdown and the Premier had this to say:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>\u201cThat\u2019s a very valid question and if the health experts tell us that the Central Coast, Shellharbour and Wollongong are able to be treated as regional NSW, we will take that advice,\u201d Ms Berejiklian said,&nbsp;<br><br>\u201cNow it\u2019s very positive that we\u2019ve seen very close to zero or very low numbers in those regions. And if the health experts say to the NSW Government those communities can be treated the same as regional NSW, we will take that advice. I want to make that very clear.\u201d&nbsp;<br><br>\u201cEven if it\u2019s ahead of the 28th of August. If Dr Chant and the experts say there is sufficiently there\u2019s no numbers or [low numbers] in those areas, we will and I think that is an incentive for those communities to keep doing what they\u2019re doing.\u201d&nbsp;<br><br>\u201cWe have had a few scares, we have had a few cases in those regional areas but if we can demonstrate, if those communities can demonstrate that they\u2019re close to zero or don\u2019t have the virus circulating, well the health experts will take that advice on board,\u201d Ms Berejiklian explained.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Pfizer Vaccines Taken-Off Central Coast Residents And Given TO HSC Students<\/strong>: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All of this comes as news broke over the weekend that Pfizer vaccinations at Gosford Hospital are being redirected to South West Sydney for Year 12 students returning to face-to-face learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Central Coast residents who had booked in for their first Pfizer jab were notified of the delay over the weekend, with some waiting for months to get the jab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parliamentary Secretary Adam Crouch says it\u2019s in response to the state government failing to secure enough Pfizer doses from the Federal Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI completely understand and share the frustrations of Central Coast locals,\u201d said Mr Crouch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cI can confirm that people waiting for their second Pfizer dose at Gosford Hospital will not be impacted by this.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Swansea MP Yasmin Catley says it\u2019s a reflection on the local vaccine rollout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThe community is extremely angry over these latest cancellations. Every day we see the Premier and Health Minister calling on the community to go and get vaccinated but they are consistently let down but Gladys Berejiklian and Scott Morrison\u2019s ability to rollout the vaccine,\u201d said Ms Catley,&nbsp;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe decision to cancel vaccination appointments does not align with the Government\u2019s Get Vaccinated messaging.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other Labor MPs across the Central Coast echoed Ms Catley\u2019s statement. They had the following to say:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wyong MP David Harris &#8220;Our Community has been doing the right thing locked down for weeks as part of Greater Sydney because we&#8217;re told we&#8217;re at risk? This just doesn\u2019t make sense sending our supplies of Pfizer away.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Entrance MP David Mehan said \u201cLabor MPs have been doing all we can to support the health response to this pandemic. However, cancelling vaccination bookings undermines our efforts and community solidarity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gosford MP Liesl Tesch said \u201cThis highlights the fact that the Liberal government is continuing to use the Central Coast as a buffer zone for Sydney &#8211; demanding we lock down, and then diminishing our access to vaccines &#8211; and we will continue to fight for our region\u2019s autonomy and fair access to health resources for both our physical and mental well-being\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When questioned by a reporter at the 11am press conference about this very fact, the Premier had this to say: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Reporter: <\/strong>There are more Pfizer doses coming from the Central Coast while the Central Coast is in lock down? Is it just a coincidence that many of the seats on the Central Coast happen to be Labor seats?<br><br><strong>Gladys Berejiklian:<\/strong> That question offends me. We are doing what is in the best interest of public health. Can I stress how important it is for us to get Year 12 students able to complete their HSC exams and make sure that they have those qualifications they have worked hard for<br><br>We know that for 16-18-year-olds, Pfizer is the only option and we wanted to make sure that not only we\u2019re giving them their opportunity to get their HSC and people understand that. <br><br>There are eight million citizens in NSW and we are all making a sacrifice. If it means some people have to wait a few extra weeks before they get their Pfizer, I think people would appreciate. They are decisions that our health department takes.
