Central Coast Council has lodged a $3.1 million proposal to extend and upgrade the track around Terrigal Lagoon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Central Coast Express Advocate<\/a>, Council has lodged the proposal with the hopes of improving the recreational and tourism value of Terrigal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Express Advocate says the Terrigal Lagoon project is proposed to be done in five stages, with the plans incorporating land along Florida Road, Hastings Road, Willoughby Road and Terrigal Drive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The proposed upgrades around the Lagoon would see an upgraded 1.16 metre track with a new 430 metre elevated boardwalk. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The $3.1 million project would also see a 730-metre concrete pathway installed as well as a water watch program west of the Marine Discover Centre on Terrigal Drive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n As for funding, the Development Application does say the various stages of the project would be \u201csubject to adequate funding\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The proposed upgrades to the Lagoon come off the back of the opening of the long-awaited Terrigal Boardwalk in April of this year<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The 277-metre-long boardwalk opened in April with the community kept at the forefront of authorities minds all the way from initial designs to completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Terrigal Boardwalk has been designed to complement the natural environment and is composed of materials that can withstand the elements to ensure both longevity and ease of maintenance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The long-awaited boardwalk also features a viewing platform with integrated seating and lighting, along with access to the rock platforms and smooth integration with the existing walkways on either end, creating an accessible continuous link from The Haven to the Terrigal town centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And in what is sure to be a hit with young families, there is now easy access to the restored rockpool with ramp access leading to the water and new pathways link the rockpool area with the new boardwalk and beach promenade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Listen via the Star 104.5 Player, download it now via the <\/em>App Store<\/em><\/a> or <\/em>Google Play<\/em><\/a> and take Star 104.5 wherever you go. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n WATCH: Wake up with a laugh and join <\/em><\/strong>Rabbit & Sarah for Breakfast<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, weekdays, 6am-9am. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
