We could\u2019ve been neighbours with Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle with new reports suggesting that the former Royals considered moving across the ditch to our trans-Tasman neighbours New Zealand!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The couple stepped down as senior members of the British Royal Family last year and moved to Meghan’s native California. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But according to New Zealand\u2019s governor-general Dame Patsy Reddy, that story could\u2019ve had a different ending. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dame Patsy revealed the couple were thinking about a different move back in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The couple made the comments when they visited New Zealand at the end of a 16-day royal tour of the South Pacific in 2018, where Reddy said they appeared tired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dame Patsy said: \u201cI remember they\u2019d just been down to the Abel Tasman National Park when we sat down and had a drink, and they said that they could imagine living in a place like this and wondered whether we thought it would be theoretically possible. Even possible for them to have a place in New Zealand.\u201d\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Dame Patsy said New Zealand could\u2019ve made it work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOf course, we said, \u2018Sure. It would be fine.\u2019 There are lots of opportunities to live in New Zealand, but that would be something that they\u2019d have to explore,\u201d she said,\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey were looking at how they might raise their family. And obviously, they’ve made some decisions since.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Harry and Meghan have son Archie, two, and they welcomed daughter Lilibet Diana in June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meghan just this week celebrated her fortieth birthday, with well wishes flowing from all the members of the Royal Family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prince William and Kate Middleton led the charge sharing a photo of Meghan to their Instagram stories wishing her a happy birthday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
