There are plenty of celebrations happening right now in Tascott, with the small suburb celebrating in style after local Nicola McDermott claimed a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games over the weekend! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicola won her first silver medal in the Women\u2019s High Jump at the Olympics on Saturday night, jumping 2.02 metres to claim the medal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also broke her own Australian record in the process, which previously stood at 2.01 metres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the win hasn\u2019t stopped Tascott from celebrating, with one cheeky resident appropriately re-naming Tascott station. Check out the picture below:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicola\u2019s result matches Australia\u2019s best women\u2019s high jump result, a Silver Medal by Michele Brown which coincidently happened in 1964 in Tokyo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her post-competition interview on Channel 7, Nicola said she hopes her win inspires someone to represent the nation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEvery time I thought about this moment, it brought love in my heart that I might be able to inspire someone and might be able to represent our nation the best way that I possibly could,\u201d she said,\u00a0<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI just want to say thank you to Australia for being on this journey with me, this silver is like gold for [me] today.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for what was written in her journal, she wasn\u2019t sure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGood question. I actually don\u2019t remember,\u201d Nicola said, \u201cIt is a bit like a dream. You wake up and you do something and then it just goes.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n
