We don\u2019t know about you but we\u2019re doing a lot of walking at the moment as part of our essential, COVID safe exercise!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, why not use our essential exercise for good (beyond moving our bodies) and raise money for cancer research?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, that\u2019s the question one Central Coast doctor is asking of Coasties, with Dr Ash Bowden (better known as Doctor Do More) once again launching his annual #MoveAgainstCancer step challenge this September!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2021 September #MoveAgainstCancer Step Challenge encourages people to record their number of steps over the whole month in teams to win prizes.  Registration is just $10, with all money going to Cancer Council NSW \u2013 Central Coast to fund local support programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the second annual #MoveAgainstCancer step challenge, and Dr Bowden said he wants this year to be bigger and better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLast year, we raised over $13,500 for Cancer Council and had over 800 people involved,\u201d Dr Bowden said,<\/p>

\u201cIt is such a simple, achievable challenge for people to participate in. Moving more has unbelievable benefits on your health \u2013 reduced risk of cancers, reduced risk of cardiorespiratory disease, improved cognition and more. Importantly, it has a huge impact on our mental health, something we can all relate to.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Jaynie Moloney, Community Relations Coordinator for Cancer Council NSW \u2013 Central Coast is delighted to be working alongside Dr Bowden for this initiative during what has been a challenging time for cancer patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCancer patients have told us that they are feeling more isolated than ever, so these funds are so important for us to continue to run our critical support programs and ensure that nobody on the Central Coast faces their cancer journey alone,\u201d Moloney said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is also a fantastic way to connect with family and friends during a time when we can\u2019t see them.\u00a0 Whilst we can\u2019t walk with our friends, we can all connect virtually and work together as a team in this challenge.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
