Dust off your walking shoes if you\u2019re in the Central Coast LGA because part of the Bouddi Coastal Walk has re-opened for locals to explore!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new section between Gerrin Point and Maitland Bay has reopened to the public, with the track now featuring a new surface, 90 new sandstone steps and other drainage features to reduce erosion into the surrounding bushland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fun doesn\u2019t stop there with two new lookouts created, which now offer stunning \u2013 and sweeping \u2013 views over Smugglers Cove and Maitland Bay, looking south towards Pittwater and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The recent upgrades are a part of a wider $1.4 million upgrade to the Bouddi Coastal Walk, with Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch saying the three-year four-stage project is being delivered by the National Parks and Wildlife Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe National Parks team has been working hard to improve accessibility on this 650 metre stretch of track and due to its remote location, equipment and materials were airlifted into place by helicopters,\u201d Mr Crouch said,<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Stage 4 of the project is set to get underway shortly, with this stage set to consist of works between the Maitland Bay headland and the Mount Bouddi Walking Track junction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStage four will begin shortly and includes access and safety upgrades to the track, plus two new lookouts and a viewing platform,\u201d Mr Crouch said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBouddi Coastal Walk is one of our region\u2019s most popular walks with approximately 200,000 people lacing up their walking shoes and hitting the track each year. It\u2019s fantastic to see NSW Government funding being used to improve the track\u2019s longevity and protect Bouddi\u2019s pristine natural environment.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
