Britney Spears\u2019 Dad has reportedly filed a petition to terminate her 13-year conservatorship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jamie Spears revealed he would be stepping down as his daughter\u2019s long time conservator \u00a0last month<\/a>, and now he thinks she should go it alone, without a court-ordered guardian managing her affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He filed documents on Tuesday insisting that now a judge has allowed Britney to hire her own legal representative, there\u2019s no longer a need for him or anyone to serve as her conservator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIn so doing, this Court has recognized that Ms. Spears has both the capacity and capability to identify, engage, and instruct counsel of her own choice, on her own, without the assistance of the Conservator or the Court,\u201d the filing reads. \u201cIf Ms. Spears has the capability to engage counsel on her own, she presumably has capacity to handle other contractual and business matters.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n Britney wants her conservatorship terminated without a medical evaluation, and Jamie appears to agree, adding: \u201cThe grounds for establishment of a conservatorship may no longer exist.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs Mr. Spears has said again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter. If Ms. Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance,\u201d the filing states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMs. Spears has told this Court that she wants control of her life back without the safety rails of a conservatorship. She wants to be able to make decisions regarding her own medical care, deciding when, where and how often to get therapy.\u00a0<\/em><\/p> \u201cShe wants to control the money she has made from her career and spend it without supervision or oversight. She wants to be able to get married and have a baby, if she so chooses.
