Dust off the umbrellas because the Central Coast is set to be lashed by severe weather and thunderstorm\u2019s starting from today (September 29).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bureau of Meteorology<\/a> is expecting the storm season to start a few days early, with severe weather set to begin lashing much of Australia\u2019s east coast starting from today with heavy rain and thunderstorms on the way. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHeavy rain and severe thunderstorms are on the way for large parts of eastern Australia in the coming days in the first significant storm outbreak of the season,\u201d Bureau of Meteorology Meteorologist Mirian Bradbury said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA low pressure trough moving over central and eastern Australia is starting to drag moisture down from the tropics, and will deepen with a low over the south-eastern states.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\u201cA<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis will see rain and the risk of storms developing across South Australia, Victoria, central NSW and Southern Queensland becoming more widespread and intense on Wednesday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSevere thunderstorms are likely, with the risk of hail, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bradbury said the weather is likely to create hazardous conditions on the road.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRain and flash flooding can create particularly hazardous driving conditions and strong winds with storms having the potential to bring down trees and power lines.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPlease take care on the roads and about your house and property over the coming days,\u201d said Bradbury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weather is expected to hit the Central Coast this afternoon, with the good folk at the Bureau of Meteorology predicting a high chance of showers most likely during this afternoon and evening with winds north to north easterly 15 to 20 km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s much of the same for Thursday, with a high chance of showers and the chance of a thunderstorm, possibly severe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things will begin to ease on Friday across the Central Coast, with a medium chance of showers, most likely in the afternoon and evening with a chance of a thunderstorm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The severe weather is expected to move out to sea just in time for the long weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
