Get ready to feel like you\u2019re on a real-life African safari without the hefty price tag because a pride of six African Lions now call Central Coast Zoo home!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The retired African Lions arrived in the region late last week following their retirement from the Stardust Circus due to the ongoing COVID pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have been very busy during the past few months creating a beautiful retirement home for the last six performing African Lions in Australia from the Stardust Circus due to the COVID-19 pandemic closures,\u201d Central Coast Zoo said in a post on Facebook<\/a> sharing the exciting news.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStardust Circus are incredibly sad that they were no longer able to keep the Lions as part of their performing family. The Circus family and their Trainer Matthew love these animals very much have always given them the best of everything. Their trainer, Matthew, will be settling them into their new home over the coming months.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Central Coast Zoo, there were no other zoos in Australia which could take on all six of the African Lion pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSome zoos offered to rehome 1, 2 or 4 animals but could not take on a new pride of 6, so Central Coast Zoo began to build an amazing home for these majestic creatures.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The six African Lions are set to call Central Coast Zoo\u2019s brand-new Savannah Sanctuary exhibition home, with the team at the Wyong Creek-based zoo going above and beyond for the majestic animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Lion exhibit is over 3 times larger than is required for this many African Lions and has a series of climbing platforms and many scratching poles with areas to hang toys and ice blocks. We constructed specialised night quarters for the animals to sleep at night also,\u201d Central Coast Zoo confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The African Lions will join an Ostrich, Camels, some adorable Meerkats (who recently took the title for the first Meerkats successfully bred on the Central Coast<\/a>) and some more exciting animals to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Central Coast Zoo is the region\u2019s newest \u2013 and most exciting \u2013 attraction located at Amazement Farm & Fun Park, on Yarramalong Road, Wyong Creek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given the current circumstances, Wyong Creek zoo has been unable to confirm the opening date to the general public of the Zoo but with restrictions easing over the coming months, they\u2019re hoping to open before the year is out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
