The NSW Government has officially clarified that Central Coast residents cannot travel into regional NSW until the 80% vaccination target has been reached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement, new NSW Deputy Premier Paul Toole has confirmed travel for holidays and recreation, between Greater Sydney and Regional NSW (and vice versa) will not be permitted from Monday, October 11. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The statement has confirmed Greater Sydney does include the Blue Mountains, Wollongong, Shellharbour and the Central Coast<\/strong> for travel purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Travel between Greater Sydney and the regions will still remain permissible for a range of reasons including for work, medical and caring reasons, and on compassionate grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Under the NSW Roadmap To Recovery<\/a>, travel for holidays and recreation between Greater Sydney and the regions (and vice versa) will only be permitted for those who are fully vaccinated once the State reaches the 80% mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe know people are busting to get out and explore the best of the bush \u2013 and we look forward to welcoming fully vaccinated travellers, but this is not something we\u2019re going to rush. It\u2019s important we continue to push up vaccination rates before that happens and ensure we keep regional communities safe,\u201d Mr Toole said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Speaking to ABC’s Radio National Breakfast earlier this morning (October 8), Mr Toole said residents of the Greater Sydney Metropolitan area will be able to travel within the Greater Sydney region (i.e to Sydney, Blue Mountains, Wollongong and Shellharbour). <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s a little bit grey at the moment where people think they can do day trips. It will be cleared up today in black and white, that you can\u2019t go into Greater Sydney into the regions,\u201d Mr Toole said,<\/em><\/p> \u201cPeople in Greater Sydney will be able to travel across the Greater Sydney region but they are not to have day trips or come into regional NSW.\u201d<\/em><\/p> \u201cThe same with regional communities: you can go from regional area to another but not into Greater Sydney,\u201d Mr Toole said.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n The NSW Deputy Premier also acknowledged on ABC’s Radio National Breakfast the public health orders were not clear enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe health orders were a little bit not clear enough, they\u2019re a little bit grey… but it\u2019ll made very clear this morning,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n At the time of writing, 70.3% of the eligible NSW population is fully vaccinated, with 89.4% of the eligible NSW population already receiving at least one dose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n As of Tuesday (October 5), 65.2% of the eligible Central Coast population is fully vaccinated, while 90.3% of the Central Coast Local Government area has already received their first dose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n What will the 70 per cent freedoms look like?
