The experts recommend making sure that you have created a comfy and safe space purely dedicated to your furry friends such as a super soft bed<\/a> or crate. Once you\u2019ve got the safe space established, then practice leaving your pet with a treat and going to another room, before returning and releasing them without a fuss to help adjust them to the fact you\u2019re not around all the time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Leave A Scent:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s safe to say that all your pet\u2019s senses are used to having you around after three very long months in lockdown. So, to make the transition easier on your pet the experts recommend leaving behind a shirt or a blanket that has your scent on it. Experts recommend maybe even adding it to their safe space, so they know it\u2019s theirs.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to experts at the RSPCA, one of the best things you can do to help to transition back to normal life is to let your pet sleep! If you spot them sleeping in a quiet corner or on their bed, then play into the old saying of \u201clet sleeping dogs lie\u201d. Letting them sleep, will help re-adjust their sleeping pattern according to the RSPCA, your pet is mostly on the same lockdown routine as you, so you\u2019ll be adjusting their pattern back to pre-lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Re-Establish The Routine You Had Before Lockdown:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Most humans like to stick to a routine, and the same can be said for your pets! Experts recommend that as you gear up to return to the office that you begin to implement your predictable routine for your pet. It could be as simple as starting to wake up earlier, going back to your pre-lockdown walk schedule or even reimplementing feeding times that you had before lockdown. You don\u2019t necessarily have to leave the house when doing this. It just gets your pet ready to be left alone! (This one could be handy for humans too if you\u2019re just a little bit too well<\/em> adjusted to a cheeky sleep in).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everybody gets excited when they see their pets, but in this case, the experts are recommending that you keep both your departures and arrival very low key. According to the experts, longer departures may prolong your pet\u2019s anxiety so keep your departure or arrival as low key as it will encourage your pet to stay calm and worry a bit less about when you might be home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
