{"id":34018,"date":"2021-11-30T14:01:53","date_gmt":"2021-11-30T03:01:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/?p=34018"},"modified":"2021-11-30T14:01:56","modified_gmt":"2021-11-30T03:01:56","slug":"new-venues-of-concern-announced-by-nsw-health-as-testing-strongly-indicates-local-case-of-omicron","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/home\/new-venues-of-concern-announced-by-nsw-health-as-testing-strongly-indicates-local-case-of-omicron\/","title":{"rendered":"New Venues Of Concern Announced By NSW Health As Testing \u2018Strongly Indicates\u2019 Local Case Of Omicron"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>NSW Health has released a statement saying genomic testing \u201cstrongly indicates\u201d an additional overseas traveller has potentially tested positive to the Omicron variant of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NSW Health has confirmed the traveller is isolating at home on the Central Coast after travelling into the country from southern Africa.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The traveller, who is fully vaccinated, arrived in Sydney on flight QR908 from Doha to Sydney on 25 November and travelled by private car to the Central Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no suggestion the traveller has done anything wrong as NSW Health confirmed in their statement, they entered the country before the health department directed travellers to go into isolation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, NSW Health has advised several venues were visited by the traveller on the Central Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone who attended the following venues at the times listed is a casual contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They must immediately get <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsw.gov.au\/covid-19\/stay-safe\/testing\/how-testing-works\/rapid-antigen-self-tests-for-community\/\">tested via PCR<\/a> and isolate until a negative result is received. You should continue to monitor for symptoms and if any symptoms occur, get tested again:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>IGA North Wyong (34-38 Cutler Drive) \u2013 Friday, November 26, 6:15pm \u2013 7:00pm<\/li><li>Pizza Hut (300 Pacific Highway) \u2013 Friday, November 26, 7:00pm \u2013 7:15pm<\/li><li>KFC North Wyong (300 Pacific Highway) \u2013 Friday, November 26, 7:15pm \u2013 7:30pm<\/li><li>Woolworths Wadalba (1 Figtree Boulevard) \u2013 Friday, November 26, 7:30pm \u2013 8:15pm<\/li><li>Aldi Toukley (127 Evans Road) \u2013 Saturday, November 27, 4:45pm \u2013 5:45pm<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The full list of venues of concern in Greater Sydney can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.nsw.gov.au\/news\/Pages\/20211130_01.aspx\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In line with Commonwealth measures, all travellers arriving in NSW who have been in South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini and Malawi during the 14-day period before their arrival in NSW must enter hotel quarantine for 14 days, irrespective of their vaccination status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All fully vaccinated travellers who have been in any other overseas country during the 14-day period before their arrival in NSW must travel directly to their place of residence or accommodation and isolate for 72 hours, pending further health advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any unvaccinated arrivals go directly into 14-day mandatory hotel quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All flight crew who have been overseas during the 14-day period before their arrival in NSW must travel directly to their place of residence or accommodation and isolate for 14 days or until their departure on another flight that leaves Australia, consistent with the current rules for unvaccinated flight crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone who has already arrived in NSW who has been in any of the eight African countries within the previous 14 days must immediately get tested and isolate for 14 days, and call NSW Health on 1800 943 553.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time of writing this there are several important things to remember:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>As of November 30, over 95% of the eligible Central Coast population aged 15 and over is fully vaccinated according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.gov.au\/resources\/publications\/covid-19-vaccination-local-government-area-lga-29-november-2021\/\">Australian Department of Health<\/a>.<\/li><li>As of November 29, 92.4% of the eligible NSW population is fully vaccinated.<\/li><li>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news\/item\/28-11-2021-update-on-omicron\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Health Organisation (WHO)<\/a>&nbsp;has designated Omicron as a \u201cvariant of concern\u201d.
