{"id":34434,"date":"2021-12-10T09:13:17","date_gmt":"2021-12-09T22:13:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/?p=34434"},"modified":"2021-12-10T09:13:20","modified_gmt":"2021-12-09T22:13:20","slug":"refreshed-central-coast-regional-2041-draft-plan-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/home\/refreshed-central-coast-regional-2041-draft-plan-released\/","title":{"rendered":"Refreshed Central Coast Regional 2041 Draft Plan Released"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A refreshed 20-year vision for the Central Coast has been released to the public, taking into account how the region has changed post-COVID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Central Coast Regional Plan 2041 has been revised by the NSW Government, who are intent on creating more jobs, infrastructure, and housing in to the future for the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The state government\u2019s 20-year vision will see the suburbs of Somersby and Warnervale become centrepieces of the region, with Gosford set to be revitalised as the capital of the Central Coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Central Coast Regional Plan 2041 also includes the idea of \u201c15-minute neighbourhoods\u201d, which would see the state government co-ordinate planning, jobs, infrastructure and housing decisions in a manner that would allow residents to access everything they need just a 15-minute walk, drive, cycle or public transport trip from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, less frequent needs like hospitals, garden centres, high schools and retail centres would be in strategic centres, located within 30 minutes of your home by public transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposed 15-minute neighbourhood is in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the value people place on local, vibrant neighbourhoods where most needs can be met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other major ideas in the Central Coast Regional Plan 2041 include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The prioritisation of new pathways with greater recognition and respect to traditional custodians, with greater connect with Country and integration of Indigenous cultural knowledge and practice into urban design and planning.<\/li><li>A new approach to planning for new land uses and infrastructure, with a focus on acceleration proposals that will support the vision and bring greater public value.<\/li><li>Establishment of net-zero emissions as a guiding principle for all planning decisions.<\/li><li>Emphasis on consolidation approaches to growth over expansion.<\/li><li>A renewed focus on green infrastructure, public spaces and nature, by drawing from the opportunities of a rapidly growing region to plan for a better future, and using planning decisions to reinforce, enhance and improve quality of life.<\/li><li>Prioritisation of walking, cycling and public transport in urban towns and village settings across the Central Coast.<\/li><li>Reinforcing the importance of equity so that people have greater choice in where and how they live, how they travel and where and how they work.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The state government is encouraging Central Coast residents to have their say on the plan, which is available via the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dpie.mysocialpinpoint.com.au\/central-coast-2041\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Planning, Industry and Environment website here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents can have their say on the plan until March 4, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Listen via the Star 104.5 Player, download it now via the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/au\/app\/star-104-5-central-coast\/id1068731232\"><em>App Store<\/em><\/a><em> or <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=au.com.star1045\"><em>Google Play<\/em><\/a><em> and take Star 104.5 wherever you go.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Images:\u00a0Destination NSW<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>By Bek Lougher<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SEE MORE:&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/home\/get-ready-to-make-a-splash-cause-there-is-a-massive-water-park-coming-to-lake-macquarie-in-2023\/\">Get Ready To Make A Splash \u2018Cause There Is A Massive Water Park Coming To Lake Macquarie in 2023<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A refreshed 20-year vision for the Central Coast has been released to the public, taking into account how the region has changed post-COVID.
