{"id":37493,"date":"2022-02-09T12:22:20","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T01:22:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/?p=37493"},"modified":"2022-02-09T12:22:23","modified_gmt":"2022-02-09T01:22:23","slug":"four-local-hsc-students-honoured-with-artexpress-nomination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/home\/four-local-hsc-students-honoured-with-artexpress-nomination\/","title":{"rendered":"Four Local HSC Students Honoured With ARTEXPRESS Nomination"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Four Central Coast HSC students have been nominated to have their work exhibited at the prestigious ARTEXPRESS showcase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The students are among 107 young artists from across the state who will be recognised for their outstanding achievement in the art-making component of their Higher School Certificate (HSC) in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HSC markers nominate works that are deemed excellent examples suitable for exhibition, with this year\u2019s students works addressing the impact of the global pandemic on their lives, with exploring ideas of the interior self and resilience, emergence and optimism, the environment and interiors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Forty-three artworks have been selected from more than 8,000 submissions and are now on display at the Art Gallery of NSW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The students from the Hunter-Central Coast region selected to exhibit their works are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Shayla Sanna from Narara Valley High School, exhibiting printmaking titled \u2018Which Box Fits You?\u2019, about how people shape themselves to fit into society.<\/li><li>Alexis Nojin from Terrigal High School, exhibiting a drawing titled \u2018One Quarter, Three Quarters, Whole\u2019, reflecting her Russian and Dutch heritage within Australian society.<\/li><li>Pranav Sarjeroa Patil from Gosford High School, exhibiting a collection of work titled \u2018Grasp\u2019, an appropriation of The Raft of the Medusa, a 19th century painting by G\u00e9ricault depicting shipwreck survivors on a raft.<\/li><li>Lily Akhurst from Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College, exhibiting printmaking titled \u2018The Farm, The Magpie, the Wren and Me\u2019, about how it would be to be as free as a bird.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NSW Department of Education Secretary Georgina Harrisson said that students should not only be proud of their artistic achievements but of the resilience shown in a year like no other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThe artworks produced by NSW students that are featured in the annual ARTEXPRESS Showcase are always incredible, but this year their talent and dedication is on full display,\u201d Ms Harrisson said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt was a challenging year for the graduating class of 2021, but their positivity and perseverance have been nothing short of exceptional.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s so pleasing to see the students\u2019 ability to adapt and still produce such amazing work, and to have their hard work rewarded by being selected to participate in ARTEXPRESS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ARTEXPRESSS 2022 is now on display at the Art Gallery of NSW from February 2 to April 25, before visiting regional galleries across the state for exhibitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Listen via the Star 104.5 Player, download it now via the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/au\/app\/star-104-5-central-coast\/id1068731232\"><em>App Store<\/em><\/a><em> or <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=au.com.star1045\"><em>Google Play<\/em><\/a><em> and take Star 104.5 wherever you go.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Images:\u00a0Pexels<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>By Bek Lougher<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SEE MORE:&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/home\/get-ready-to-make-a-splash-cause-there-is-a-massive-water-park-coming-to-lake-macquarie-in-2023\/\">Get Ready To Make A Splash \u2018Cause There Is A Massive Water Park Coming To Lake Macquarie in 2023<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Four Central Coast HSC students have been nominated to have their work exhibited at the prestigious ARTEXPRESS showcase.
