Get ready for a fun night out closer to home soon because plans for a massive live concert venue and water park at Lake Macquarie have been approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lake Macquarie City Councillors voted unanimously yesterday (February 21) to approve the development of the Cedar Mill precinct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The multi-million development will see the 90-hectare Morisset Golf Course transformed into a multi-purpose entertainment facility, which will host a range of events, markets and functions, with the capacity to stage outdoor performances for audiences of up to 30,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser said the development would boost the profile of Morisset and help realise the area\u2019s untapped potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe development will have positive economic benefits for the Morisset and the city, facilitating exciting new tourism and entertainment opportunities,\u201d Councillor Fraser said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt will create jobs in the area and generate significant flow-on benefits for local tourism operators, hospitality vendors, equipment providers and other businesses that support and supply the event industry.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winarch Capital are the developers behind the Cedar Mill project, with Managing Director Paul Lambess welcoming Lake Macquarie Council\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year it was announced the former Morisset Golf Course would be transformed into a massive outdoor concert venue, tourist park and water park complete with multiple restaurants and cafes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outdoor concert venue is set to have a capacity of up to 30,000 seats to attract international artists and performances to the Lake Macquarie region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The water park is set to feature up to eight water slides, two water dumpers, a large run through sprinkler AKA it’s going to be buckets of fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But that\u2019s not all, with a mini lazy river and up to 20 ten feet high shaped sprinklers set to be included according to our friends over at Coasties Mag<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no firm date for the opening of the Cedar Mill precinct but reports last year suggested it could be ready by late 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
