If your life is at risk, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the current evacuation orders visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ses.nsw.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ses.nsw.gov.au<\/a>&nbsp;and for weather warnings visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bom.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bom.gov.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the current road closures across the Central Coast, visit Central Coast Council\u2019s website&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.centralcoast.nsw.gov.au\/residents\/roads-and-water\/road-closures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>, or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.livetraffic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">livetraffic.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>Flooding: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Low-lying areas around <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/home\/low-lying-areas-of-tuggerah-lakes-ordered-to-evacuate-by-10am\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tuggerah Lakes<\/a> were ordered by the State Emergency Services (SES) and emergency authorities to evacuate out of the danger zone and to higher ground by 10:00am on Thursday (March 3). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><meta charset=\"utf-8\">Once floodwater begins inundating the area, road access may be cut. If you remain in the area after this time, you may become trapped, and it may be too dangerous for NSW SES to rescue you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The areas affected are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Berkeley Vale<\/li><li>Chittaway Bay<\/li><li>Chittaway Point<\/li><li>Long Jetty<\/li><li>Tacoma<\/li><li>Tacoma South<\/li><li>The Entrance North<\/li><li>South Tacoma Road<\/li><li>McDonagh Street<\/li><li>Pollock Avenue<\/li><li>Wolseley Avenue<\/li><li>Panonia Road<\/li><li>Wyong Aged Care Facility<\/li><li>Low lying areas around the Wyong Racecourse and the Kooindah Waters Golf Course<\/li><li>Low lying areas along Allison Road, Old Maitland Road, Yarramalong,<\/li><li>Collies Lane, McPherson Road, Gavenlock Road, Mike Jennings Road and River Road<\/li><li>Gavenlock Road area Pacific Highway (Southern end Anzac Road \u2013 northern end McPherson Road to the north)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>THE SES has downgraded their original major flood warning to moderate, with Tuggerah Lake at Long Jetty is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (1.30 m) Thursday evening. The lake level may reach around 1.50 metres during Friday with moderate flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heavy rainfall in the past 48 hours with abnormally high tides has caused river and lake level rises along the Wyong River and Tuggerah Lake catchments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surrounding areas should relocate immediately to family or friends outside the impact area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wherever possible, people should go and stay with family or friends, or make other accommodation arrangements. If you are unable to, an evacuation centre has been set up at the following. Do not drive through flood waters to go to an evacuation centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Diggers at The Entrance, 315 The Entrance Road The Entrance<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For emergency help in floods and storms, call the NSW State Emergency Service on 132 500. In life threatening situations call triple zero (000) immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The full evacuation orders and flood bulletins can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ses.nsw.gov.au\/evacuation-notices\/nsw-ses-evacuation-order-tuggerah-lake\/\">SES website here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/rabbitandgina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rabbit &amp; Gina<\/a> spoke to Rolf Garda from the Central Coast SES yesterday who said now is the time to act for many Central Coast residents. <\/p>\n\n\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/rabbit-and-gina\/rabbit-gina-chat-to-rolf-garda-from-the-ses\/embed\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"Rabbit &amp; Gina Chat To Rolf Garda From SES - 3rd March 2022\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><strong>The Weather:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In some good news for the Central Coast, a severe weather warning issued by the BoM has been cancelled overnight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The threat of widespread heavy rainfall has now passed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few thunderstorms remain possible over the NSW central coast and adjacent inland, with a small risk of more localised heavy rainfall &#8211; severe thunderstorm warnings will be issued if this eventuates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, a severe weather warning for Damaging Surf remains in place for all beaches south of Forster including the Central Coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><strong>The Roads:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"507\" height=\"338\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/water_over_road_sign.jpg\" alt=\"Central Coast Council has confirmed they are closely monitoring the region\u2019s 2,200km road network and responding urgently to fix potholes, remove fallen trees from roads and inspect and repair any other damage as quickly as possible during and following heavy rain.\" class=\"wp-image-6758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/water_over_road_sign.jpg 507w, https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/water_over_road_sign-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 507px) 100vw, 507px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Central Coast Council has confirmed they are closely monitoring the region\u2019s 2,200km road network and responding urgently to fix potholes, remove fallen trees from roads and inspect and repair any other damage as quickly as possible during and following heavy rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time of writing the following roads are closed or affected:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>OURIMBAH \u2013 Burns Road, Foots Road, Turpentine Road and Ourimbah Creek Road are closed. <\/li><li>UMINA BEACH \u2013 Sea Street, Shephard Street and Lovell Road are closed. Vernon Road is open however there is water over road.<\/li><li>WOY WOY \u2013 Brick Wharf Road and Oval Avenue are closed.<\/li><li>EMPIRE BAY \u2013 Boonara Road is closed.<\/li><li>YARRAMALONG \u2013 Yarramalong Road and Bumble Hill Road are closed. <\/li><li>WISEMANS FERRY &#8211; Wisemans Ferry Road is closed between the ferry and Old Great Northern Road. <\/li><li>CHITTAWAY POINT &#8211; Geoffry Road is closed. <\/li><li>CHITTAWAY BAY &#8211; Aloha Drive are closed.<\/li><li>DOORALONG &#8211; Mandalong Road are closed.<\/li><li>HOLGATE &#8211; Carlton Road and Milina Road are closed. <\/li><li>JILLIBY &#8211; Durren Durren Road and Jilliby ROad are closed. <\/li><li>KILLARNEY VALE &#8211; Corsby Crescent, Naelcm Avenue, Norton Avenue and Lucinda Avenue are closed. <\/li><li>MATCHAM &#8211; Oak Road is closed. <\/li><li>NARARA &#8211; Reeves Street, Pandala Road and Showground Road are closed.<\/li><li>TACOMA SOUTH &#8211; South Tacoma Road is closed. <\/li><li>TUGGERAH &#8211; Ace Crescent, Johnson Road and Anzac Road are closed. <\/li><li>BERKELEY VALE &#8211; Lakedge Drive is closed. <\/li><li>GUNDERMAN &#8211; Wisemans Ferry Road is closed. <\/li><li>MARDI &#8211; Woodbury Park Drive is closed. <\/li><li>ROCKY POINT &#8211; Hastings Street and St Leonards Street are closed. <\/li><li>TERRIGAL &#8211; Fairway Drive is closed. <\/li><li>WAMBERAL &#8211; Willoughby Road is closed. <\/li><li>WYONG &#8211; Panonia Road is closed. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For information about road closures&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.centralcoast.nsw.gov.au\/residents\/roads-and-water\/road-closures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">search \u2018road closures\u2019 at Council&#8217;s website: centralcoast.nsw.gov.au<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community members can report any potholes or road damage caused by weather events by calling Council on 1300 463 954 or contacting us online via the \u2018Report an issue\u2019 page on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.centralcoast.nsw.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Council\u2019s website<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Central Coast Council and other emergency authorities are urging people to stay inside if possible. If you do leave the house, authorities are urging <meta charset=\"utf-8\">people to obey all signage and never walk, ride, or drive through a flooded road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need to drive anywhere, please take extra care on our roads as there has been a lot of rain in the past 24 hours with lots more expected throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><strong>The Beaches &amp; Waterways:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All Central Coast beaches are currently closed, with Central Coast Council monitoring conditions around the clock. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Council crews have worked consistently over the last week opening Wamberal, Terrigal, Avoca and Cockrone lagoons as they reached flood trigger levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whilst conditions have been favourable, crews from Central Coast Council were at The Entrance Channel yesterday (March 2) to do some further precautionary work establishing a pilot channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will support the channel widening and berm lowering undertaken yesterday. Machinery is on-site today undertaking this work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Council, the pilot channel may not necessarily present an immediate and obvious water flow but is designed to assist flow if flood conditions eventuate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Council staff are continuing to liaise with the Bureau of Meteorology to get a more accurate understanding of anticipated peak lake levels. Following analysis of data, Council\u2019s flood engineers have identified the potential for the moderate flood level to be exceeded which is why we have undertaken these precautionary measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pollution alerts are currently in place for several Central Coast beaches, with Council encouraging locals to head to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.environment.nsw.gov.au\/beachapp\/CentralcoastBulletin.aspx?fbclid=IwAR1hewfzGbJMkmfCawwIXSNUvXLSL1q1E1gEjduvsQpbCIbTIjzo4knLTzA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Beachwatch website<\/a>&nbsp;for daily pollution forecasts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>Schools Non-Operational:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A number of schools across the Central Coast are non-operational today (March 3) due to the ongoing severe weather. These schools are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Wyong Creek Public School <\/li><li>Jilliby Public School<\/li><li>Kincumber Public School <\/li><li>Tacoma Public School<\/li><li>Central Coast Grammar School<\/li><li>Wyong Christian School<\/li><li>St Philip&#8217;s Christian College &#8211; Gosford<\/li><li>Chittaway Bay Public School <\/li><li>Berkeley Vale Public School<\/li><li><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>TAFE NSW&#8217;s Ourimbah and the Univeirstiy of Newcastle Ourimbah campuses have both re-opened today (MArch 4). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University of Newcastle Ourimbah campus is closed today (March 3), with the university urging people not to travel to the campus today.
