The Central Coast has received funding for roads and infrastructure across the region in last night\u2019s Federal Budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commuters across the Central Coast are the big winners from the Federal Budget with much of the region\u2019s slice of the budget focusing on roads, rail and infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Central Coast Highway at Tumbi Road will be expanded into dual lanes in the coming years, with the Federal Government committing $51.2 million to the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this week, an additional $336.0 million was promised by the Federal Government to expand the Pacific Highway through Wyong from single lanes to a dual carriageway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site for the long-awaited\u00a0Woy Woy Station Car Park upgrade<\/a>\u00a0was also confirmed earlier this week, with the Federal Government allocating an additional $8.2 million to the upgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A further $1 billion has been committed for a faster rail upgrade between Wyong and Tuggerah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rail upgrade will eliminate a bottleneck by constructing two new electrified tracks between south of Tuggerah and north of Wyong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extra platforms and station upgrades at Wyong and Tuggerah, and new dual-track rail bridges over the Wyong River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other big talking points in the budget include relief to the cost of living with the Government temporarily slashing the fuel excise and introducing a one-off cost of living tax offset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Federal Government will reduce fuel excise by 50 per cent for 6 months, with the excise coming into effect at midnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will see excise on petrol and diesel cut from 44.2 cents per litre to 22.1 cents per litre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, consumers won\u2019t see relief at the bowser for another two weeks as petrol stations replenish their stocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From July 1, more than 10 million Australians will receive a one-off $420 cost of living tax offset. As a result, eligible low- and middle-income earners will be up to $1,500 better off for a single income household, or $3,000 better off for a dual-income household.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Member for Robertson Lucy Wicks said the budget delivers for a strong economic future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Budget delivers the next stage of the Government\u2019s plan to build a strong economy and a stronger future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
