First came the baby alligators<\/a> early in the week and now there is some more baby news fresh from the Australian Reptile Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsa, the Koala who won hearts across the world thanks to her viral videos is expecting her first Koala joey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Australian Reptile Park has confirmed the joyous news, which coincides with Elsa\u2019s 3rd birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsa the Koala melted hearts across the world back in 2019 when she first made her debut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsa had a tough start in life, and was hand-raised by Keeper Hayley after requiring keeper intervention to ensure she was going to survive as Elsa\u2019s mother Irene was unable to produce milk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It did not take long for Elsa\u2019s popularity to reach new heights with several videos of the fluffy Koala going viral with her videos being seen over 10 million times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"It<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Keeper Hayley Shute, Elsa\u2019s adoptive mum and resident Koala whisperer said it melts her heart to see how far Elsa has come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt melts my heart to see Elsa thriving, considering the first time we met she was at risk of not making it. I look at her happy and healthy and now with a joey in her pouch and I get a bit emotional she\u2019s growing up,\u201d Shute said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shute said Elsa has raised important awareness for the species, which are expected to be extinct by 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cElsa has spread so much joy to everyone all over the world but most importantly has raised awareness for koalas as a species in peril that needs our help now more than ever,\u201d Shute said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKoalas are estimated to be extinct by 2050 and we need all of the help we can get protecting these amazing animals. We know Elsa has made an impact on people and we love sharing her story with the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsa\u2019s joey is expected to pop its head out of the pouch in mid-June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
