Access to Tuggerah Railway Station will soon be a lot easier for many local residents, with early work on the long-awaited upgrade now underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The $34 million upgrade will see accessibility made easier for everyone to access public transport services, including people with a disability, with mobility aids, parents or carers with prams, and travellers with luggage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A widened platform with improved customer accessibility and upgraded station entrances, including new and improved footpaths are another big feature along with a family-accessible toilet and ambulant toilets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

15 accessible parking spaces will be made available in the commuter car park, with upgraded bus stops and pick-up and drop-offs will be easier with a dedicated drop-off zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Adam Crouch said in preparation for major work to start later this year, early work has commenced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe station upgrade is part of the NSW Government\u2019s Transport Access Program, which has committed almost $600 million since 2011 to deliver modern, integrated and accessible transport facilities across regional NSW,\u201d Mr Couch said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The upgrade will support around 40 jobs according to Mr Crouch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe upgrade will also provide a welcome boost to the local economy and this early work will support around 40 jobs over the next five months, with Downer EDI delivering the work on behalf of Transport for NSW,\u201d Mr Crouch said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter our community was consulted about the project earlier this year, I know everyone will be excited to see work on the ground and the upgrade commencing at Tuggerah Station.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Efforts will be made to minimise impacts on commuters and to enable adherence to strict environmental conditions relating to noise, vibration, and dust management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
