People who drive and use their phones; beware!\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Secret cameras are set to be installed across New South Wales roads this December to help combat the continuing problem of motorists using their phones while driving.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Forty-five cameras will be placed across the state and, unlike speed cameras, there won\u2019t be a warning sign to alert you to their presence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The rollout of $88 million worth of fixed and portable cameras will be completed by December this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The government ran a six month trial of the cameras and, apparently, 100,000 of the 85 million drivers checked were found to be using their phones illegally.<\/p>\n

“We have to, unfortunately, use the element of surprise to get people to think ‘Well, I could get caught at any time,\u2019” NSW Roads Minister Andrew Constance said.<\/p>\n

“I want behaviour to change and I want it changed immediately. It’s not about revenue \u2014 it’s about saving lives.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
