{"id":43457,"date":"2022-07-05T12:54:06","date_gmt":"2022-07-05T02:54:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/?p=43457"},"modified":"2022-07-08T09:09:39","modified_gmt":"2022-07-07T23:09:39","slug":"400k-funding-boost-secured-for-health-on-the-streets-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/home\/400k-funding-boost-secured-for-health-on-the-streets-program\/","title":{"rendered":"$400k Funding Boost Secured For Health On The Streets Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Vital health service Health on the Streets (HoTS) will continue to operate after a funding boost from the Federal Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been confirmed the Federal Government has secured a $400,000 funding boost for the service, which helps some of the Central Coast\u2019s most vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Run by Coast &amp; Country Primary Care, <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.star1045.com.au\/across-the-coast\/health-on-the-streets\/\">HoTS<\/a> takes healthcare to rough sleepers and people experiencing homelessness. People experiencing homelessness and transitional housing often face a range of barriers when accessing basic healthcare services, we all take for granted such as going to a GP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These barriers can be anything from lack of transport to lack of identification or even previously experiencing discrimination and a range of other unique obstacles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HoTS ensures all people on the&nbsp;Central Coast have the right to basic healthcare, safety and dignity by providing people with health checks, mental health checks and so much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HoTS team also offers drug and alcohol support, accommodation support and access to other services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The primary focus of the HoTS program is to provide basic clinical care, health assessments and outreach services to people experiencing homelessness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HoTS team is staffed with healthcare professionals and outreach workers who can link you with other providers such as housing and community services to bring as much support as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New Federal Member for Robertson Gordon Reid made the announcement, confirming the program will be funded for the next twelve months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cI welcome the news that the Albanese Labor Government will provide funding to allow HoTS to continue operating for the next 12 months,\u201d Dr Reid said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s phenomenal news and a great outcome that the Health Minister has been able to find the funding which provides a lifeline to HoTS and will mean they can continue providing primary healthcare to people who are homeless and struggling to access healthcare\u201d. Dr Reid said<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cI will continue to work with the Health Minister and Coast and Country Primary Care to investigate funding sources to ensure the program is sustainable into the future\u201d.
