But how likely are we to actually win the\u00a0lotto<\/a>\u00a0in Australia? What are the odds of us picking the right numbers and walking away with a mint?\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lottoland<\/a> has broken down the probability of winning across a range of lotteries and, look, it\u2019s not good. The odds of winning any<\/em> prize in the Oz Lotto is 1 in 55\u2026 but if you\u2019re aiming high and hoping for the jackpot, the odds are 1 in 45,379,620. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yeesh.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Powerball lottery is similar. The odds of winning any Powerball prize is 1 in 25, but the odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 292,201,338. Basically: don\u2019t hedge your future plans on winning big. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But if you\u2019re still keen to have a crack, Lottoland has revealed the best way to figure out the lotto odds: looking at the total amount of balls that appear in each draw, and the range of numbers that players have to choose from. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, you\u2019ll want to do some tricky equations. We hate maths so we\u2019ll pass and stick to our guessing game, but if you\u2019re keen to do some number crunching, you can find out more here.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that,  you\u2019ll need to figure out your overall chance of winning by multiplying the results of these equations together. Dividing that by one will give you your odds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
