Mark your calendars because the Matildas<\/a> are returning to the Central Coast ahead of the FIFA World Cup for the hotly contested Cup Of Nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Australian football fans will have an opportunity to see the CommBank Matildas in action on home soil in February when Sydney, the Central Coast and Newcastle host the four-nation tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cup of Nations will compromise of three double header matchdays between Australia, Spain, Jamaica and Czechia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The six-match tournament will commence on the Central Coast at our very own Industree Group Stadium<\/a>, on Thursday, February 16 with Spain taking on Jamaica before the CommBank Matildas take on Czechia.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cup of Nations tournament will then head to CommBank Stadium in Parramatta, where Jamaica and Czechia go head-to-head before the Matildas take on powerhouse Spain on Sunday, February 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tournament will conclude on the territory of our northern neighbours, with Czechia taking on Spain at McDonald Jones Stadium before the Matilda\u2019s meet Jamaica on Wednesday, February 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highest place nation following the completion of all three match days will be crowned the Cup of Nations champion on February 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Football Australia Chief Executive Officer James Johnson said he is delighted with these opportunities for the Australian public to experience world-class football and cheer on the CommBank Matildas and their football heroes in the lead-up to the FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn 2022 we saw the drawing power of the CommBank Matildas with matches in Townsville, Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney, Gosford and Melbourne drawing over 109,000 spectators as we took the CommBank Matildas to different parts of Australia,\u201d said Johnson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johnson said the Cup of Nations is a great way for football fans to see the CommBank Matildas ahead of the FIFA Women\u2019s World Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Cup of Nations will continue to take football to regional areas with the Central Coast, Greater Sydney, and the Hunter presented an opportunity to farewell the CommBank Matildas ahead of July\u2019s tournament, as well as get a taste for the international football festival that awaits in 2023,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
