Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran<\/a> has confirmed he is releasing his second album in less than six months titled Autumn Variations<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eyes Closed<\/em> singer announced the news on his Instagram, confirming the follow up to Subtract (styled as \u201c-\u201d) will be released on September 29, 2023, via Sheeran\u2019s own label, Gingerbread Man Records.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Sheeran said he put his emotions into songs following changes in his life and that of his friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cLast autumn, I found that my friends and I were going through so many life changes. After the heat of the summer, everything either calmed, settled, fell apart, came to a head or imploded,\u201d Sheeran said in a statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen I went through a difficult time at the start of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was going on.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sheeran said that he has written songs for Autumn Variations <\/em>from his friend\u2019s perspective as well as his own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen I learned about my friend\u2019s different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time,\u201d Sheeran said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere were highs of falling in love and new friendships among lows of heartbreak, depression, loneliness and confusion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album will see Ed Sheeran collaborate with Aaron Dessner, with whom he previously collaborated for Subtract<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen I recorded \u2018Subtract\u2019 with Aaron Dessner, we clicked immediately. We wrote and recorded non-stop and this album was born out of that partnership,\u201d Sheeran said of Dessner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI feel he has captured the feeling of autumn so wonderfully in his sonics and I hope everyone loves it as much as I do,\u201d Sheeran said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Autumn Variations <\/em>marks a departure from the mathematical theme for the British singer, with Sheeran originally planning to release this album prior to Subtract.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
