Calling all skater boys and girls – the newly revamped regional skatepark and BMX track at Umina Beach<\/a> has officially opened to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The $8 million upgrade includes plenty for the whole family  starting with the brand new regional skatepark, which is one of the largest on the Coast and includes a skate bowl deep bowl and mini beginner bowl with street elements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the new BMX Track caters for a broad range of wheeled sports and different riding abilities from beginner to advanced featuring a high-quality asphalt finish surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both spaces have competition standard lighting installed, which extends the hours of use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is plenty of things for the kids – and the big kids at heart – at the brand new Peninsula Recreation and Active Lifestyle Precinct (Image: Central Coast Council \/ Supplied)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the bowls and bits, the Peninsula Recreation precinct now features a full-size basketball court and floodlights of the same ilk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There has also been an installation of a new playspace area with two colourful bouldering climbing units with a rubber soft fall base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to bouldering, the Peninsula Recreation and Active Lifestyle Precinct is the place to go, with a larger combined bouldering unit that also has ropes and can accommodate a large number of older children, with the second smaller climbing structure suitable for younger children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Umina Tennis Club facilities have also been upgraded, with new synthetic surfaces installed and a dedicated futsal court added (kind of like soccer but on a basketball court, check it out).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the fun doesn\u2019t stop there with Central Coast Council also funding two new sportsground amenities at Etta Road and Melbourne Avenue, ensuring improved and accessible facilities for local rugby league, cricket and soccer groups that use these popular sports fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Council Director of Community and Recreation Services, Melanie Smith said the upgrades have enhanced the recreational and sporting offerings at this popular precinct and improved accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCouncil is passionate about providing safe and engaging outdoor spaces for our community to promote healthy and active lifestyles and to help create connected communities \u2013 and I believe this has been achieved,\u201d Ms Smith said.  <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThese upgrades, which have rolled out consecutively over multiple years since 2022, have enhanced and complemented the already popular regional playspace and quality sports fields, and will also attract thousands of visitors to the Peninsula each year and support local businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
