Central Coast residents communting by train will no longer have to spend $60+ per week on their daily trips to Sydney thanks to a new cap on weekly fares introduced this week.<\/p>\n

While overall fares will increase by 1.9 per cent, NSW Transport has created a weekly cap on fares,\u00a0reducing the total amount charged from $63.20 to just $50 for adults, and down to $25 for concession holders.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Senior\/pensioner Gold Opal fares will remain at $2.50 for all-day travel, any day of the week.<\/p>\n

For regular travellers, the $50 cap will mean a saving of up to $686 a year, with estimates that those trekking it to Sydney from the Central Coast will save more than $600 a year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to make public transport more affordable and that is why we are lowering the cap,\u201d NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said in a press release.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The changes came into effect on Monday 24th June.\u00a0<\/p>\n
